Time flies. It's now been two weeks with my Dad and Step mum visiting, only one more week until there'll be no more excuse to skip work and spend time with koala bears and tree kangaroos... Yes TREE kangaroos, you learn something new every day. Seven years in Australia, I have never heard of them, lol! Today we walked under a group of trees with hundreds of bats, I tried to take a photo but it really didn't show how many there were. Don't miss the little Joey peeking out of its Mummy's pouch in the bottom right photo.

Lots of holiday fun going on here. Trip to the Crystal Castle, Byron Bay lighthouse, the beach, playground and park, not to mention the countless rounds of UNO we've been playing. Here are some pics from the last week.

We are enjoying the first part of the new year with family visiting from overseas. Nothing like a good heat wave to start off your holiday when you have travelled from a place with snow and cold weather. But hey, they asked for sun ... and Brisbane delivered. 39 degrees to be exact. We braved the blazing sun yesterday and had a beautiful day on the river, and everyone made it through without getting burnt, quite an achievement in itself. The day before we did a 3k rainforest walk, which had enough stairs to send any 20-year-old into a good whinge, but these crazy 71-year-olds powered through and showed us all that a few glasses of red wine a night really do seem to add years to your life! We arrived at one of the finest restaurants in Australia pretty sweaty and buggered, but I'm guessing they've seen it before since they are placed right in the middle of the rain-forest. Such a beautiful place right in the most amazing garden, surrounded by the sounds of the forest and with the most exquisite food. It's no wonder Maia, Bedstefar & Edda all passed out in the backseat as we drove in twists and turns down the mountain after dinner, it was a full day and also included a stop at a lovely, little winery where even I found a wine that I liked. Today has been spent shopping and playing Maia's home-made fairy-game. She beat us all fair and square and sent us all packing with her victory dance and squeals of delight. Simply not fair since I was only 3 squares away from winning, way ahead of the pack, when I got the dreaded "got lost in the garden, go back to start" card. As I'm writing this the two "oldies" are enjoying a glass of wine outside on the deck, while Darren slaves away in the kitchen cooking a huge roast dinner. I think it's safe to say they are doing well and slowly relaxing into life the "Aussie way". We need to train them up a bit for Australia Day, which is coming up on the 26th. They send their love to all of you in Denmark. Here's a few pictures from our time together so far.
